Lesson 33: 1B: Describe somebody (a personal pronoun)

We move on to our third Filipino sentence pattern.
We often describe somebody when we speak.
When we refer to that somebody by a pronoun,
we have what we call pattern 1B:

Pattern 1BPersonal pronounAY adjective
Heis not yet ready.
Siyaay hindi pa handa.

[sentence [subject [personal-pronoun siyį]] [predicate [predicate-marker ay] [adjective hindī pa handā]]]

In the pattern definition above:
"Personal pronoun" can be replaced by "one or more personal pronouns."
"Adjective" can be replaced by "one or more adjectives."

Compare the different patterns:
1A Personal nameKiko is not yet ready.
1B Personal pronounThey are not yet ready.
1C Non-personal nameMy mom is not yet ready.
1D Non-personal pronounIt is ready.
